Change of guard must in view of 'failures' of present set up: Bhan | 'Give lead role to Cong, representation to KPs' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 18: A day after J&K PCC Chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz confirmed cabinet reshuffle and expansion was on cards, one more senior leader and General Secretary of the Party Ashok Bhan also indicated this an imminent task before the coalition. In what can stir the still political waters of coalition Bhan strongly vouching for change of guard , contended this as necessary in view of the performance of the government in present dispensation which called for thorough review and necessitated to fulfill aspirations of the people by giving 'lead role' to the Congress in the state. The talk about cabinet reshuffle and expansion is not only getting loud but appears to become official soon with no less dignitary than the PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz confirming it as due exercise to 'rejuvenate' the face of the government. However, in the middle of this, the raking of the issue of change of guard by senior leader of the party, that too while connecting it with the 'performance and failures of the present dispensation led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah', the issue of rotational Chief Minister, which remained dormant for some time, has come alive again. Ashok Bhan, it is pertinent to say, is the first Congress leader who raked up this issue some six months back in Srinagar which created some furore in the coalition, particularly ruffled feathers in NC leadership. Bhan's long time association with the party and that he is well connected with the party command is something that cannot be undermined and therefore his assertion once again at a time when the coalition is going to complete three years term in January first week next year assume significance. Bhan who is Jammu met several delegations of the party and during the course of his interaction which comprised Kashmiri Pandit delegations as well, has underlined the need for initiating such steps would go in the interest of the people of the state as a whole and the supporters of the party in particular. He has urged the Congress high command and in particular AICC President Sonia Gandhi to respect the 'legitimate expectations' of the people in general by giving lead role in the governance of the state to the Congress party nominee after the three years expiry of the present dispensation in the first week of January 2012. Sources said Bhan emphatically conveyed it to the delegations that the issue of change of Chief Minister by rotation is alive and the performance of the present government calls for a thorough review in view of the 'failures' of the present dispensation. His point goes beyond this in what he has strongly vouched for giving representation to the Kashmiri Pandits in the ensuing cabinet reshuffle. "The Kashmiri Pandits in particular are alienated and living in forced exile in various parts of the country. Their exclusion from the main stream of the J&K polity and from the power dispensation is fraught with the danger of communal and pernicious polarisation . Kashmiri Pandits can at no cost be excluded from the political administration in any ensuing cabinet expansion/reshuffle, as they are an in- alienable part of plural ethos of Kashmir and symbol of secularism for the entire state" Bhan said. He further observed that Congress party in the state has become a vibrant political force under the guidance of Sonia Gandhi and with the youthful dynamism of Rahul Gandhi who has infused an electrifying political effect into the whole Congress Party in the country and has become an icon in the state of J&K for the youth to get into the main stream by his personal interventions and his sincerity to resolve the unrest and Kashmir imbroglio. The Pradesh leadership is putting its all out efforts to put in practice the agenda set forth by AICC President and Rahul Gandhi, he added. " It is expected that more astute, competent, honest and dynamic team of Congressmen is put in place in both the party and the Government for building a more vibrant party base in all the three regions of the state", the senior Congress leader maintained.
