Army provides computers to the schools on line of control
12/19/2011 1:16:10 PM

EARLY TIMES
Akhnoor, Dec 17: There was a glint in the eyes of the students of Government Boy’s and Girl’s High School, Panchgrain when the school was provided with 10 computers, 43 tables and chairs for students and a table and chair for principal’s office by Bawan Brigade on 16 Dec 11, under Operation
Sadbhavana.
Schools in the remotest part of the state along the line of control in Akhnoor Tehsil are often neglected and devoid of basic infrastructure. Receiving infrastructural assistance from the Army rekindled their dreams of making it big in life.
The students were filled with enthusiasm and were visibly ecstatic on the sight of the computers and the furniture meant for their school.
Their awareness that computers are integral in today’s information technology oriented environment was witnessed by all present on the occasion.
The zeal of the students was to be witnessed to be believed. “I am eagerly waiting to locate and read about my town (village) in the internet when I learn the nuances of the functioning of the computer” was the exuberance of a student.
“Never had I thought that I would be using a computer till I go to college, but thanks to Army, that dream has come true now”, said another student.
The teachers of the schools emphasized that the facilities extended would facilitate bridging the gap in education standard of the border areas vis-à-vis their counterparts in cities. They were full of admiration of Army’s efforts of contributing towards the development of remote, isolated and neglected border areas and extending welfare measures to the local citizens.
