Cheater arrested, fake currency recovered | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, December19:Bakshi Nagar Police arrested a cheater and recovered fake currency notes with the face value of Rs 12,800 which the cheater had delivered to a person from whom he had borrowed Rs 40,000 a few months back. One Punnet Singh son of Saran Beer Singh of Sainik Colony lodged a written complaint at Police Station Bakshi Nagar that in the month of July 2011 one Mandeep Singh son of Rajveer Singh of Sainik Colony Jammu borrowed Rupees 40,000 from him with the promise that he would return the borrowed sum after four months. After the lapse of four months when he asked him to return the money, the said Mandeep Singh resorted to dilly-dallying tactics by resorting to one pretext or the other. After hard efforts by the applicant the borrower agreed to return the borrowed money and called the applicant to Pawan Ice-cream yesterday where he handed over the money in a packet to the applicant. The applicant on checking was astonished to find only Rs 12,800 instead of the entire borrowed amount of Rs 40,000. The complaint was dumbfounded when he got to know that the amount returned is fake. Punnet Singh immediately approached the Police Station Bakshi Nagar and lodged a written report upon which a case FIR no.173/2011 u/s 420 RPC was registered and investigation started. During the course of investigation Police party of Police Station Bakshi Nagar headed by SHO Inspector Sameer Jillani swung in to action and arrested the accused the same day. Further investigation into the case is going on.
