JSM reiterates demands for reorganization of J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 19: Virender Gupta, president of Jammu State Morcha(JSM) welcomed the keen interest taken by the Govt. of India and the State Govt. to plan for providing employment to about 1.5 lac Kashmiri youth under Rangarajan Job plan and providing about 40,000 and 2000 another job packages for Kashmiri graduates, academicians as well as professional, under a new skill-employment scheme Udaan and Himayat as announced by Union Minister for Rural Development, Jai Ram Ramesh. The Chief Minister and the Union Minister handed over letters of appointment to 1059 Kashmiri youth as a first phase of the Rangarajan Job Plan that costs more than 235 crores rupees entirely borne by the Central Govt. Gupta stated that it is unfortunate and matter of great distress that Jammu and Ladakh regions have been completely ignored in these projects of providing employment opportunities. This is inspite of the fact that the ratio of unemployed youth in Jammu region vis-a-vis Kashmir region is 70:30. This clearly reflects the attitude of Govt. of India which is valley centric and discriminatory against Jammu region. Jammu region has also suffered because of militancy. The fault of the Jammu region is that its people are pro-India, they did not pelted stones and damage the government properties. Is patriotism always at discount in this country? He added, “The behavior of Omar Abdullah, is as if he is the chief minister of the valley only, welfare of the people of Jammu and Ladkh regions is not of his concern. He has always watched the interests of Valley at the cost of other two regions. It may be warned that this type of attitude of Govt. of India nd that of State is alienating the people of Jammu region, particularly the youth and their resentment is against them is increasing day by day which may lead to an explosive situation after some time”. This event again vindicates the stand of Jammu State Morcha that people of Jammu Region shall not get justices and their grievances addressed so long as Jammu region remains part of J&K. Therefore, the demand of re-organization of State, creating separate states for Kashmir Valley and Jammu Region and granting union territory status to Ladakh is the only liable solution in the present political scenario.
