Dy CM conducts extensive tour of Jammu city
Inspects works of STP, Khust Ashram

JAMMU, DECEMBER 19- Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand today conducted an extensive tour of Jammu city and inspected various ongoing development works, including construction of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) and quarters in the premises of Khust Ashram, Bhagwati Nagar.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. S. C. Sawhney, CEO, SUIDA Mr. Saugat Biswas and other senior officers of the concerned departments.
Tara Chand inspected and reviewed the progress of STP having 27 MLD capacity being constructed by NBCC at Bhagwati Nagar. He went around various blocks/components of the plant and was briefed about the functioning.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the executing agency not to delay the completion of this vital project. He instructed to work in double shifts and increase manpower, so that the project gets completed at the earliest.
The project has been envisaged to improve the sanitary conditions in Jammu city, which require upgradation and improvement. Once completed the plant would manage the disposal of large volume of sewerage and reduce the environmental and water pollution to a greater extent.
While inspecting the construction work on 36 number one room quarters, the Deputy Chief Minister directed Commissioner, JMC to ensure use of quality material in the construction work and complete the project in a time bound manner. The quarters are being constructed at Khust Ashram, Bhagwati Nagar by JMC under Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP), at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.43 crore.
Showing his dissatisfaction over the material used in the construction work, Deputy Chief Minister said that action should be taken against erring officers who found guilty.
Interacting with the inmates of the Ashram, Tara Chand inquired about the problems being faced by them and instructed for ensuring proper cleanliness and sanitation in the premises.
