| Ek Sham-Maalik Ram Anand Ke Naam | | | JAMMU | JAN 12 Adbi Kunj, J&K, Jammu held a special function at its literary Centre New Shastri Memorial H/s School Talab-Tillo, Jammu to pay tributes to late Maalik Ram Anand, an eminent Urdu novelist and short story writer on his 3rd death anniversary. The function, which was attended by a large number of writers, poets and other lovers of literature, was presided over by a well-known Punjabi lyricist and poet S. Rajpal Singh Mastana. Talib Kashmiri, Gen. Secretary Adbi Kunj, conducted the proceedings of this meet. The guest of Honour on this occasion were Ghulam Nabi Zahir, President Pir Panchal Adbi Forum, Banihal and S. Kirath Singh Inquillabi, a well known Punjabi poet and writer from Baramulla, Kashmir and editor of Punjabi quarterly magazine “Jhelum”. Initiating the proceedings, Sham Talib, President Adbi Kunj, paid tributes to late Maalik Ram Anand and spoke on his deep association with Adbi Kunj, Jammu. He described late Anand Sahab, a man of great principles and an outstanding writer who made immense contribution to creative Urdu literature in the State. Other speakers who paid glowing tributes to late Anand included Ushaq Kishtwari, K.K Shakir and Maharaj Krishen. In today’s meet the participants expressed deep concern and anguish over the decision of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to charge rent at the rate of Rs 1000/- for its recently renovated seminar hall a cultural Academy Complex, Jammu for holding literary functions even from such organisations which are totally dedicated to promoting and propagating creative literature in the state without getting a single penny from the Academy or any other quarter for their activities. It was demanded that such kind of literary organisation should be totally exempted from this condition.
