J&K lifts All India Forest Football trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 19: Already won a gold in cue game, Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department today lifted the football trophy for second consecutive time in 19th All India Forest Sports Meet underway at Dehradun in Uttrakhand.
In the final, J&K Forest blanked Goa Forest team in the final 4-0. First goal was scored by Aashiq Mushtaq in the first ten minutes of the game, followed by second coming through Waseem Javid.
Later, in the second half, J&K forest team kept on dominating the field with Shahnawaz Bashir netting two goals to help his side make it a big 4-0 win in the title clash.
Meanwhile, J&K Forest cricket team has also qualified for the final today. In the semifinals, J&K defeated Madhya Pradesh Forest team by nine wickets at Abhimanev Cricket Stadium. Madhya Pradesh scored 113 runs for the loss of eight wickets in given 25 overs.
In reply, J&K Forest team achieved the target by losing only one wicket. Basharat made unbeaten 60 runs, Tanveer scored 25 runs while Aslam contributed 24 runs. Aslam also took two wickets while Amit bagged three wickets. In cue game, gold medal winner in billiards, Sohail Khalid has also made it to the semifinals of snooker. In today’s quarterfinals, Sohail trounced his opponent from Karnatka.
