EARLY TIMES REPORT
NILNAG, BUDGAM, DECEMBER 19: Cautioning the people against hollow sloganeering and false propaganda of the Opposition, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today said on seeing the growing popularity of National Conference Leadership, they (Opposition) now rely on politics of lies.
Addressing a mammoth public gathering at a far flung village Nilnag in district Budgam after laying foundation stone of Primary Health Centre, Building (PHC), Mr. Rather said opposition has nothing to offer except hollow promises and exploitation of innocent people by hoodwinking them in frivolous issues.
The PHC building is being constructed by the J&K Housing Board at a cost of Rs. 1.75 crores.
Vowing that all the promises made to the people shall be fulfilled, Mr. Rather said people are the best judge to differentiate between the real friends and foes adding that masses cannot be swayed too long on hollow promises. He said the present Government has launched a massive developmental programme in nook and corner of the State especially in far flung and hitherto neglected areas with focus on construction of wide road network to link unconnected areas with main trunk roads, opening of schools for better education and hospitals for adequate health care at the doorsteps of the people in far flung areas. “These developmental and welfare initiatives would usher the entire State into a massive socio-economic revolution shortly”, Mr. Rather asserted.
Referring to the developmental initiatives being undertaken in the area, Mr. Rather said Nagam-Nilnag-Goggi Patheri road is being widened and macadamized at a cost of Rs. 16 crore. He announced that a mega Gandola Cable Car Project is proposed to be constructed to link world famous tourist resort of Yusmarg with Nilnag and scenic meadow Bargah. These initiatives would give a big boost to the tourism activities to bring socio-economic prosperity in the area in coming days adding that the historic Nilnag would be revived to its pristine glory.
The Panchs, Sarpanchs and other local representatives of the area projected demands of their respective areas before the Minister, which were well responded by the concerned officers of the district administration, who accompanied the Minister.
The District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Mr. Mohammad Rafi, Managing Director, J&K Housing Board, Mr. Daleep Thusoo, Chief Medical Officer, Budgam, Mr. Aleem Din, senior Engineers of various engineering wings and other officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
