| 3.5 kg Charas seized, two held | | | Kathua | Jan 12 Police today arrested two person from maggar Khad area in Kathua and seized 3.5 kilogram of charas which they were carrying in specially designed bags to supply in Punjab. The consignment was meant for some drug traders of Punjab who were supposed to contact the conduits at the border adjoining Punjab. According to reports, a policy party led by Incharge Police post, hatli, Inderjeet Singh intercepted two persons at Maggar Khad were moving in a suspicious circumstances. They tried to escape but were challenged and overpowered by the police team and recovered 3.5 kg of charas from their possession which they were carrying in specially designed bags to conceal the contents. Both the persons have been identified as Arjun Singh son of Prem Chand of Saria and Mohd Afzal Wani of Charaj-ud-din of Bhand in Tehsil. During interrogation, they disclosed that consignment was meant for some dry traders of Punjab. They also disclosed that one Chaman Lal son of Karnail Singh of Saria is the main supplier and he was also with them but escaped at the time of interception. Meanwhile, a case under NDPS Act registered against both the accused and hurt has been launched to arrest the absconding person. It is to mention that Kathua police has recovered about 150 kg of Heroin and a large quantity of drug being smuggled from Kashmir to Punjab during the period of last 5 – 6 months.
