Sohail Khalid bags snooker gold | J&K Forest wins cricket trophy in All India meet | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 20: After football title, Jammu and Kashmir Forest team today clinched the cricket trophy outplaying Karnataka Forest by eight wickets in the 19th All India Forest Meet underway at Dehradun in Uttrakhand today.
Batting first, , Karnatka scored 98 runs in 21.3 overs which, in reply, J&K overhauled losing only two wickets. Basharat scored 32 runs, Tanveer made 30 and Mohammad Aslam added unbeaten 22 to the total. Nazir Ahmad and Mubashir Ahmad took three wickets each for J&K Forest.
Meanwhile, top state cueist, Sohail Khalid made a clean sweep winning gold in both billiards and snooker events. In the snooker final played today, he defeated his opponent from Madhya Pradesh by 2-1 frames.
In the cultural group of J&K Forest Department bagged third place. The group was led by Gul Javid.
Meanwhile, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), J&K, RD Tiwari and Additional PCCF, Suresh Chugh congratulated the contingent for brining laurels to the state in the prestigious event.
