Pathania seeks Tehsil status, Degree College for Basantgarh
12/20/2011 8:52:53 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Basantgarh, Dec 20: Braving biting cold and first snowfall of ensuing winter season in Dudu Basantgarh area od Ramnagar assembly segment, R.S. Pathania, a prominent lawyer and noted Youth Congress activist from Ramnagar concluded a two-day tour of the area and addressed a series of largely-attended meetings at Rang, Kulwanta, Majori, Upper Balota, Basantgarh, Mang, Ponara and Lousru while seeking a Tehsil status and a Degree College for Basantgarh and Niabat for Dudu.
In view of its vast terrain, hilly topography, militancy-infested conditions and acute penury of the people living over there and long distance from Tehsil headquarters at Ramnagar, the area fully qualifies for Tehsil status.
Whereas a Niabat at Dudu had been recommended by Wazir commission but successive governments have neglected this beautiful stretch of land.
The people of the area expressed sincerest thanks to former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad as a multi-crore project on upgradation-cum-double-laning of Ramnagar to Basantgarh road had been submitted during his tenure and same has been got sanctioned now and work on the same has also started. They also thanked present Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and R & B minister, Javed Dar for start of work on the dream project.
The area of Dudu-Basantgarh has a vast potential in tourism, weaving, agriculture, fruit-growing and sheep-breeding sectors. But lack of proper road connectivity has kept the people living over here in a virtual Stone Age.
With the completion of the road project, a fillip to four-dimensional fillip shall be accorded to developmental needs of area.
The economic condition of about 50,000-odd people living over here is very poor.
Due to administrative neglect and lack of proper political leadership, the area has not been able to assert and flourish properly despite the availability of best of potential available here.
The schools and health institutions in the area are bereft of requisite infrastructure and proper staff. And despite repeated reminders and protest threats given to demonstration, it has failed to wake up. And a worst reign of maladministration, underdevelopment and misgovernance is prevailing in the area.
The people of the area demanded upgradation of P.H.C. Basantgarh to a full-fledged C.H.C. He also demanded a fresh C.H.C. at Dudu and allopathic dispensaries for Punara, Mang, Balota Upperla, Charri Bangla & Parla Chakal. People demanded provision of staff for Higher secondary Schools Marta, Thail & Keya and High Schools at Dudu-Kirchi, Balota, Satyein, Kotwalt, Bainsta, Rang and Rasligaderan.
Prominent among others who addressed the meeting included Shiv Charan, Yog Raj, Behari Lal, Manzur Ahmad, Umar Din, Hans Raj, Mohd. Sharif, Feroz Din, Mulkh Raj, Raj Kumari, Tilak Raj, Sansar Chand, Rashid Ahmad, Yash Pal, Trilok Chand, Kewal Kumar,
Ghulam Nabi, Salim Mohd. , Sansar Chand, Dhani Ram, Dharam Chand, Krishan lal and a galaxy of local leaders.
