| Aspirations ignored in creation of districts: Rehman | | | Jammu | Jan 12 Sheikh Abdul Rehman, State President, Samajwadi Party (SP), said that creation of four districts and several Sub-divisions and Tehsils, in a ghastly manner without obtaining opinion, has resulted in ignoring several areas in Jammu Division. Rehman said that a Morandum has been submitted to S.S. Billowaria, Chairman, De-Limitation Committee therein demanding for creation of 4 ore districts in Jammu Division namely Mahore Pahari District, Mahanpur (Drambra) in Kathua, Akhnoor in Jammu and Siot in Rajouri, and grant of Tehsil status of Nagrota; besides others. The S.P. President added that present Tehsil ‘Jammu’, has a large population of over 15 lakhs and its boundaries touch Katra, Akhnoor, Reasi, R.S.Pura, Bishnah and therefore need be divided into three Tehsil viz. Jammu City, Satwari and Nagrota in view of its huge area and population. In addition it has also been demanded that areas of Aithen, Bajalta and Sidhra may be detached from Samba and attached with newly proposed Tehsil Nagrota. He further expressed sympathy with the plight of ReT and described Police Lathicharge on the peaceful protestors as most unfortunate. He demanded that genuine grievances of this highly qualified class of the society need be considered sympathetically.
