Farmers training programme organised at SKUAST-J | | | Early Times Report JAMMU , December 20 : Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu and under the auspices of Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST-J organized one day training programme on “Value added products from tomato” at Chanani Bagla on 20.12-2011.
A total of twenty five farm women and men participated in the said training programmes. Programme started with brief introduction of KVK Rajouri by Dr. Rakesh Sharma Subject Matter Specialist Agriculture Extension and guided the trainees about the value addition of different domestic vegetable and fruit for fetching higher income.
Dr. Punit Choudhary Subject Matter Specialist Agroforestry of KVK, Rajouri briefed the farmers about the multivariate benefits of cultivating fodders tree species along with traditional medicinal and aromatic plants as high value crops. During the training programme
Dr. Sheetal Badyal SMS Home Science (Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-J) demonstrated the technique of preparing Tomato Sauce and Chutney to the participants. In addition to that, Dr. Sheetal stressed that the rural women should start their own venture by forming self help groups.
Dr. Manoj Kumar SMS Horticulture makes the farmers/ farm women aware of the different vegetables hybrids that can be grown in the area.
