Literary Festival on Tagore in ‘Tribal and Regional languages concluded | | | Early Times Report JAMMU , December 20 : Two day Literary Festival - ‘Remembering Tagore’- in Tribal and Regional Languages of Jammu and Kashmir , to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore was concluded with the note that more such interactions, translations , adaptations are required to understand his philosophy and vision.
Organized by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation and supported by Ministry of Culture, Government of India through NZCC this was the first ever in the State where in the writers of Kashmiri, Dogri, Gojri, Ladakhi, Punjabi Pahari and Balti languages discussed Tagore as writer, philosopher, poet, composer, painter, essayist, philosopher, educationist and social reformer in their own languages on one platform.
Speaking in the concluding event of the festival Dr. Javaid Rahi , Secretary Tribal Foundation said it was a great experience for all those who participated in this composite extravaganza. The two day deliberations provided a deep insight about Rabindranath Tagore and we are planning to hold more such event to disseminate the massage of Tagore in Jammu and Kashmir.
A state level composite Mushaira was also marked during the festival in which 34 poets participated. Farooq Nazki Media ,Advisor to J&K Government and Prominent Urdu and Kashmiri Writer presided over the event. Different prominent poets of Kashmiri, Dogri, Gojri, Punjabi, Pahari, Ladakhi and Balti recited the translation of Selected Poetry of Rabindranath Tagore. They also paid poetic homage to Gurudev in their mother tongue.
