12/20/2011 11:13:29 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu,December 20 (KIP): In the absence of Omar Abdullah and fragmented Congress leadership the political advisor to Chief Minister Devendra Singh Rana Tuesday put the record straight on behalf of National Conference claiming that Omar would remain chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir till 2014.

"Till 2014, Omar will remain the chief minister and will continue to serve you (people)," Political Advisor to the CM Rana told a public meeting at Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu city. Rana's clear cut statement comes close on the heels of renewed efforts made by the section of Congress leaders to rake up the issue of rotational Chief Minister in the state.

Reading out the report card of the coalition government headed by Omar Rana said the Omar government had taken taken a number of steps regarding development of the state but his critics do not want to consider his achievements.

"They ask what the Omar government has done in the past three years? The fact is that it has set up 33 degree colleges, unveiled 22 projects and metalled 8334 kms fo road," he said.

The biggest achievement of the government was that it had conducted Panchayat elections in the state, Rana said.

"When we began the process of Panchayat polls, some started the propaganda that it will result in bloodshed and violence. "But, the people came out and voted and peaceful polls were held," the NC leader said.

He said the good-governance, transparency, prompt administration and public empowerment is the target of Omar-led coalition and steps taken in this direction have started bearing fruit already.
Speaking in panchayat halqas of Ranjan, Sarote and Mathwar of Nagrota Assembly Constituency, the Political Advisor to the Chief Minister ridiculed the detractors of present dispensation adding that the positivity and people-friendly approach of the government has frustrated these elements.

The Political Advisor criticized PDP for its propagandists approach and rumour mongering to mislead the people. He said PDP survives on double speak and divisive politics. “Dividing people in the name of region and religion and propagate falsehood is the characteristics of this party”, he said adding that people are wise enough to understand the hidden agenda of this party aimed at seeking power by hook or crook.

He said PDP and its leadership lives on falsehood and its double speak has been unmasked before the public. “They have lost their credibility and people have become aware of their vested interests to grab power”, he said adding that these politicians have
become irrelevant as such and are in search of creating unnecessary controversies when none exist.
