Necessary amendments should be brought in PC –PNDT Act

JAMMU , December 21 : Gurdeep Singh Sasan Chairman J&K Children’s Welfare Society in a latter to Dr. Manmohan Singh Prime Minister of India and to State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appealed to them to bring necessary amendments in present PC-PNDT Act regarding female feoticide.



First of all the punishment under this Act is maximum upto 5 years imprisonment of fine of Rs. 5000/- only.



Since female foeticide is a clear cut murder, criminal conspiracy barbaric and in human act violence against female and destroy of evidence, unethical, unreligious, creates hatred against a particular gender.

This is not simple murder of one person but is genocide of humanity. Keeping in view the seriousness of the offence and declining female sex ratio as compared to male Sasan fervently and appealed to them to bring perpetrators of this heinous crime under section, 302, 120B and other relevant sections of IPC so that exemplary punishment could be awarded to those who indulge in this kind of heinous crime.

Sasan further urged to make mandatory for every sonographic centre to go online regarding information pertaining to sonographic test conducted on pregnant women across the country and also make mandatory for all doctors and clinics equipped with sonographic machines to enter details of sonographic test conducted on women on website.

While appreciating and hailing Omar Abdullah government for launching a historical and revolutionary scheme called “Anmol Beti” under which Rs. 5000/- is proposed to be fixed deposited in the name of 10th Class girl child, keeping in view economic status of the J&K State.

Sasan appealed to Prime Minister to extent budgetary support of Rs. 45000/- for per girl child to the state government so that the government could enhance this amount from Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 50,000 / - which will positively give social security to the girl child and will definitely change mindset regarding girl child.
