| BAJ extended its ongoing strike till December 26, 2011 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 21: In a general house meeting of the Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) held under the Chairmanship of its President Adv BS Slathia, members unanimously decided to extend the ongoing strike/ agitation against the move of State Govt for shifting the powers of Registration of documents from Judicial Officers to Executive Officers till December 26.
In the onset Vikram Sharma, General Secretary of the Bar Association Jammu complimented the members of the Bar thanked the trade, transport, social and political organisations that extended whole-hearted support to the Bandh Call given by the Bar Association Jammu he read out support notes from former Member of Parliament Shabir Ahmed Salaria and MLA Bhaderwah Mohd. Sharief Niaz who had extended their support to the cause taken up by BAJ.
B S Slathia, President Bar Association Jammu called upon the members of the Bar to gear up to defeat the govt in its pursuit of an anti-people move in transferring the registration powers from Judicial officers to revenue/executive officers. He said that the govt must read the writing on the wall that the masses across the State can not be forced to a corruption-ridden system only because it wants to help the land-mafia.
