| NC 'demeaning' Coordination committee…? | | Cong takes serious note of NC's 'casual' approach | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 21: Congress, the major ally of ruling coalition in J&K has expressed serious reservations over what it has felt as the 'casual' attitude of the alliance partner National Conference towards the Coordination Committee meetings in the party High command either choosing to skip it or distancing itself from the high level panel which has been set by the UPA chairperson and party president Sonia Gandhi in order to ensure smooth functioning of the alliance government. The party leadership has conveyed it to the NC high command that it doesn't want and will not take in healthy spirit NC's ' gestures' and intent which are being seen as demeaning the Coordination Committee or undermining its importance.
Sources said Congress leadership has not taken in good spirit the casual attitude of the NC towards settling certain issues at this high level forum which it has reflected on a number of occasions whenever the efforts are made to convene or call the meeting. Sources also informed that NC high command comprising both Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who though members of the committee have not showed seriousness in holding or attending the meetings of the panel , something which is now being seen as disregarding the panel or its members from the Congress side.
NC leadership, sources said has sought inclusion of one of two advisors of Omar Abdullah in the coordination committee , possibly in replacement of either Dr Farooq Abdullah or the Chief Minister himself who is on record of having said that his presence in the panel is not required as none of his predecessors in previous coalition regime were so. However, instead of agreeing to that , the Congress has put its foot down and conveyed it to NC that such casual approach was not acceptable and adhocism or seeking replacements and changing of the members from the party frequently would not augur well in so far as maintain the dignity and significance of the panel is concerned, sources further said.
In order to give some serious and meaningful face to the high level coordination committee which has been created by the party president ,Congress is also contemplating to take on board some competent and strong minded leaders from the party itself so that serious and vital issues confronting the government could be discussed and sorted out in a meaningful manner at this highest forum of the ruling allies. |
