Citizens Forum visits Railway Station to access ground situation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu DEC 21: The members of Citizens Forum which has filed PIL for the upgradation of Jammu Railway Station, today along with Jammu Railway authorities took round of the Jammu Railway Station to take stock of the problems being faced by the passengers at large and particularly the elder ones. After a scheduled visit a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the president of the forum R K Chadda in the Railway Station premises, listed a number of facilities required at the station, to be presented in the joint meeting of the railway authorities and other concerned parties, including the members of Citizens Forum, to be held on December 24 were discussed in detai1. It may be mentioned here that in respect of PIL filed by the Citizens forum in the J&K High Court, seeking upgradation of the Jammu Tawi Railway Station to cope with the heavy rush of passengers, the High Court has directed general manager of Railways (Firozpore division) to hold a meeting of all the concerned on December 24,2011, to which representatives of the forum be also invited, to discuss threadbare the project for upgradation of the station and to provide all the required facilities. Besides R K Chadda, the others who attended the meeting included: retired chief engineer Vikram Gaur, retired conservator of forests S I H Qazmi, retired director ERA and Ex Vice Chairman JDA R K Handa, Senior Journalist Yash Bhasin, Chief Engineer (Retd) Arun Sharma, Chief Engineer (Retd) Vinay Kotwal, AEE (Retd) M S Kapoor, Engineer (Retd) K R Gandotra, Ramesh Gupta, K K Mahajan (traders) and Secretary (Retd) JKBOSE Prof Mohammad Ayub.
