3,098 AIDS patients in J&K; 802 undergoing treatment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu | Thursday, Dec 22 The Jammu and Kashmir government today said that at present there are 3,098 patients suffering from Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) out of which 802 are undergoing the treatment. There is 35 per cent decline in AIDS in Jammu and Kashmir and at present 3,098 people of HIV positive in the state out of which 802 are under treatment, Dr Rakesh Khajuria, Project Director, AIDS Control Society, told UNI on the sidelines of a day-long AIDS awareness camp organised to educate truck drivers about the disease here. Dr Khajuria asserted that efforts were being made by the government to make aware people especially those living in remote belts about the pandemic. Though the figure in Jammu and Kashmir has come down, still people are being educated through camps, seminars, special drives about the diseases, its causes and preventive measures, he added. He, however, added that so far in the state 228 people had died of dreaded disease.
