Srinagar, Dec 22 In continuation of the war against corruption in the state government machinery and the civil society, Awami National Conference has filed another RTI application before the Consumer and Public Distribution Department on Thursday.
The RTI filed through its provincial secretary Er Narinder Dev Chunni has sought information from state government regarding an alleged scandal worth Rs 40 crores unearthed by State Government a few years ago pertaining to food supply to BPL persons at Marwah/Warwani areas of Kishtwar, where number of officials/in charge of CAPD Department particularly appointed at that time were booked by Vigilance Department and a Criminal Trial was initiated against them before Addl. Sessions Judge (Anti Corruption), Srinagar.
The party spokesman alleged that the CAPD department was dispatching food grains to 60,0000 souls against the actual rationing population of only 22,000 souls in these areas.
The ANC RTI has sought information from the Government regarding the action taken against the involved officials and whether the State Vigilance Organization had taken necessary steps to seize the immovable assets of the persons involved in the scam and how many officials were terminated and reinstated and on what grounds.
The ANC spokesperson told KNS that the RTI has sought information from the government, whether the involved officials including the main accused have been reinstated and posted again at Marwah/ Warwani. If so, what is the status of the criminals case lodged against the accused in the court of law and what were the reasons and extraneous circumstances that made CAPD department to promote such officials in spite of this scam. If so, whether there was any scope of direct involvement of higher bureaucracy or even at ministerial level in this scam, the spokesman said.
