Omar will have to share the cake with `strangers' | | | Early Times Report Srinagar: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah now has the cake and may eat it too. But with Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi backing Soz on cabinet reshuffle, Omar will have to rub shoulders with `strangers' in the coming days. Senior Congress leader and incharge Kashmir Affairs, Mohan Prakash told a local news agency that Soz was within his rights to ask for a cabinet reshuffle or any other issue regarding the smooth conduct of the coalition government. Pertinently, Soz had insisted on cabinet reshuffle, giving a hint of his intention to drop some ministers and bring some new faces into the cabinet. Addressing a press conference in Jammu last week, Soz had sought a cabinet reshuffle. While putting the cabinet expansion at back burner, Soz told reporters that a reshuffle was on cards. "It is overdue. There would be a reshuffle. Expansion may not apply because there is hardly any scope for that. So there would be a reshuffle," Soz had told reporters. On January 5, 2012 National Conference-Congress coalition would complete its three years in office and according to the agreement, Omar will continue to lead the government unlike previous PDP-Congress Coalition which introduced rotational Chief Ministership. |
