JBA urges Soz to ask govt review its decision
'Issue would be settled as per Bar aspirations'

Jammu, Dec 23: In a bid to garner support from political quarters for the cause it is fighting for over a month, Jammu Bar Association led by BS Salathia called on J&K PCC President Prof Saif-u-Din Soz here today.
Prof Soz, who reached in the winter capital today had a threadbare discussion with the lawyers over the issue of transfer of registration powers from judiciary, a move which has seen unrest and complete strike by the lawyers of Jammu led by Bar. In the detailed discussion JBA chief explained to Prof Soz the status of the stir particularly in the aftermath of the bandh that was observed three days back in the entire Jammu.
He conveyed that the bandh was not only supported by common people from all walks of life but also by all the traders, transporters and social organisations against the move of the NC led government in transferring the powers of registration of documents from Judicial Officers to Revenue/Executive Officers. today
It was in pursuit of the resolution, of the General Body Meeting of the Bar Association Jammu to muster support for the cause taken up by the Bar association Jammu, a delegation of the Bar Association led by B,S.Slathia and comprising senior members and young lawyers today called on PCC(l) Chief and Chairperson of the Co-ordination Committee Prof. Saifudin Soz and urged upon him to make the their partner(NC) in the coalition regime understand the fallout of the decision and ask it to review the move of the govt in transferring the powers of registration of documents from Judicial Officers. Slathia apprised the PCC(I) President that the rigidity exhibited by the few vested interests in the govt to enforce the uncalled for replacement of a time-tested and transparent system of registration of documents by the Judicial officers with the revenue/executive officers. The massive Bandh observed by people across the State on 20th Dec on a call by Bar Association Jammu signifies that the people of the State are also opposed to the in-advised move of the govrnment, Salathia said.
Prof. Soz gave a patient hearing to the delegation of the Bar and assured that he is fully convinced about the genuine cause taken up by the Bar Association. Prof. Soz said that he would see to it that the issue is sorted out at the earliest as per the aspirations of the Bar and those of the common masses.Prof Soz, it is pertinent to mention has already intervened into the matter and conveyed it to concerned quarters in the government that in order to ensure that concerns of the lawyers fraternity they must review the decision by taking on board the delegates of JBA on the negotiating table.
