12/25/2011 11:34:01 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, DEC 25: A full day play facing 103 overs in their second innings, the visiting side of Assam today held Jammu and Kashmir to an unexpected draw in the Cooch Behar under-19 tie played at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here. Left with no other option but to stay on the wicket for full day in the presence of a huge target of 330 runs, Assam did so surprising the hosts by facing the bowlers with utmost courage and determination to make it a draw.
It was for the third consecutive time that the under-19 team of J&K could not do well even after taking the first innings lead on the home turf.
Earlier, Assam started their day under pressure this morning with 33 for one on the board. But the patient innings played by opener, Sajid Khan and middle order batsman, WR Rehman brought in a draw with Assam making 242 runs for the loss of five wickets in 103 overs. While Sajid made 88 runs, Rehman contributed 77 adding 147 runs for the second wicket partnership.
Sayed Qadri and Rohit Sharma were only successful bowlers, who shared two wickets each.
