According to the revised curtailment schedule issued by the Power Controller Kashmir, the power supply will remain cut off for most of the time in un-metered areas which has sent shock waves across the consumers.
By virtue of the schedule, most areas, majority of them in the rural Kashmir will remain in dark for thrice a week between 5 am to 8 am whereas there will be no power for four days a week between 8 am to 1 pm, and four days a week between 1 pm to 6 pm, though on rotational basis. According to the schedule, the same areas will remain in dark again on rotational basis thrice a week between 6 pm to 10 pm and twice a week between 10 pm to 5 am in the night.
According to KNS, the curtailment programme for metered areas has also been revised according to which, power supply will remain cut off once a week between 5 am to 8 am, once between 8 am to 1 pm, once between 1 pm to 6 pm, once between 6 pm to 10 pm on rotational basis. However there will be no cuts during the night in the metered areas. Meanwhile, the consumers across the valley have accused PDD for not sticking to their own schedules. Locals from Kreeri area of district Baramulla have accused PDD officials of causing inconvenience to the consumers. They claimed that the supply from Watergam receiving station is very much irregular and there are frequent unscheduled cuts. The locals have appealed the authorities to look into the matter.
