BJP demands Bharat Ratna for Atal

JAMMU, Dec 25: In a colourful and widely attended function to celebrate the 87th birthday of BJP veteran leader & former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, the state unit of BJP adopted a unanimous resolution seeking award of Bharat Ratna to him.
The party activists also took an oath of Sushaasan (good governance ), which symbolized his term as the PM of India. The unique feature of the function was that besides party activists, it was attended in large number by civil society members, who had voluntarily came forward to pay their respects to Vajpayee Ji. A laddoo weighing 87 kilogrammes was also distributed on the occasion.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, while justifying the party's resolution seeking Bharat Ratna award for Atal Behari Vajpayee, said that the six years rule of BJP-led NDA under the able leadership of Vajpayee ji as PM brought a revolution in the country in all fields.
It is due to his zeal to work for motherland and vision for a prosperous and developed nation that earned for him respect in the heart of a common Indian.
He said that the leaders like Atalji are very rare and we are proud to be the members of such an organization which was brought up and nurtured by him.
National executive member & Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria attacked Omar Abdullah for his divisive statements which can disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
He also denounced the UPA's decision to allot reservation to minorities out of OBC quota.
He appealed the people not to get misled by the slogans of good governance being preached by NC-Congress coalition and strengthen the hands of BJP in order to defeat such parties for whom remaining in chair is on top agenda.
National executive member & chief spokesperson Jitendra Singh said that Atal Behari Vajpayee is a subject of research thesis for students of political science.
His vision, pragmatism and humanism make him distinct from others. The pace at which the standards of political conduct are deteriorating in this country, a day will soon come when future generations may refuse to believe that a person like Vajpayee was ever there in Indian politics.
National executive member & MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, who was also the Co-ordinator for the function said that the life of Atal is itself an example for others.
Vajpayee is tallest leader of not only India but entire Indian subcontinent and is respected highly by even Pakistan leaders like Parvez Musharaf and Nawaz Sharief He expressed hope that the party activists will carry on the nationalist ideology of Atal to the masses.
State general secretary Sat Sharma (C.A.) conducted the proceedings of the function,.
Jammu Mahanagar district president Rajesh Gupta said that our country witnessed Ram Rajya during the Prime Ministership of Atal Behari Vajpayee and people still remember him as the best PM India had after independence, which is also a matter of pride for the party as well as all of us. District vicepPresident Sanjay Baru presented vote of thanks to the party activists and general public to take part in the function. Suresh Jamwal, Usha Choudhary, Kavinder Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, Purnima Sharma, Shilpi Verma, Nirmal Kamal, Amarnath Gupta, Balbir Ram, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Lalit Moza, Hira Lal Chatta, Sakina Bano, Munish Sharma, Karan Singh, Jeet Angral, Vikram Randhawa, Priya Jral, Sureshta Jamwal, Ayodhya Gupta, Puran Sharma, Sat Pal Choudhary, Sunil Dogra, Praduman Singh, Arun Khosla, Pushpa Wazir, Munish Khajuria, N.D.Rajwal, Chander Mohan Gupta, Gulshan Mahajan, Balwan Singh, Dinesh Gupta, Priya Sethi were prominent among those who attended this function.
BJP mahila morcha prabhari & MLA Himachal Pradesh, Urmil Thakur, who is in Jammu to attend working committee meeting of Morcha, also attended the function.
