Transfer of land registration powers issue
Balraj Puri hails J&K High Court for stay on SRO
12/25/2011 11:41:44 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 25: Balraj Puri, Convenor Peoples Union for Civil Liberties J&K State, has welcomed the initiative taken by special branch of J&K High Court, by issuing stay order to put on hold the issuance of SRO for transferring powers of registration of land documents from Non Judicial Officers to Revenue Officers.
He regretted that the government had in an advertisement in the press appealed to those supporting the agitation for dialogue instead of contacting the leaders of the agitation who are well known persons and called them for dialogue for resolving the dispute.
He argued that prime facie government had a weak case. For there was shortage of revenue officers due to which people seeking land registration would suffer.
He appealed to the government to immediately start dialogue with the leaders of the Jammu Bar and accept their reasonable demands and thereby spare the people from avoidable hardships.
