'Move necessary to maintain secular fabric'

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 25: Various Kashmiri Pandits organizations have urged AICC President Sonia Gandhi to address the sensibilities of the exiled community by inducting a prominent pandit in the State cabinet in the ensuing reshuffle.
In a joint statement the organizations while pleading inclusion of a KP representative in the state cabinet have explained the necessity of such a step in the backdrop of present political status of the community which is waning fast. They said after having been forced out of Kashmir Valley through killings, rapes, loot and properties grab, even the religious shrines and endowments by the militants, the marauders, the grabbers and anti-national elements, this suffering community is being systematically excluded from the political dispensation and other democratic fora in order to radicalise the Valley and change its demographic profile, the KP organizations have observed.
The exclusion of KPs from the political mainstream is not only dangerous for the integrity of the State but is fraught with communal and anti-national polarization besides being conceptually anti-secular. The great plural ethos of Kashmiriyat and nation's secular polity is being put in peril by power brokers of the State by cleverly crafted exclusion of a traditionally rich Hindu religious minority of Valley.
The KP orgnizations appealed for passage of protection of Hindu Shrines and Religious Endowments bill by the State assembly in the coming session to all the legislators in the State to save the rich heritage.
The representatives of all KP organizations have urged the senior Congress Party leader Ashok Bhan to convey the resolution to congress high command and arrange for a meeting with AICC president, the PM and Rahul Gandhi. Bhan, assured he will in right earnest convey the feelings and put in efforts for the meetings but only after the Parliament session.
Bhan, has urged his party colleagues in the State assembly to help in passing the protection of Hindu religious & endowments bill in the next session & has requested to PCC president, who is chairman of co-ordination committee to take up this issue with NC.
