Veteran Journalist ML Kak's book | | | Early Times Report New Delhi, Dec 25: “Jailed without crime" a book on misuse of powers by the ruling political leaders during the internal emergency, written by veteran Journalist, M.L. Kak, was formally launched at an impressive function at the Kashmiri Samiti Bhawan in New Delhi today. Dr S.K. Sopori, vice chancellor Jawaharlal Nehru University, released the book among the galaxy of academicians, jurists, lawyers, former administrators and artists. During the function several leading Pandits leaders, academicians were honoured. M.L. Kak in his book has given a detailed account of his imprisonment on charges which were simply frivolous and concocted. Academicians praised the courage with which the author has endured the sufferings and the way he has been forceful in exposing those who had framed bogus charges against him simply to settle personal score with the write. The book gives an account of the magnanimity of Indira Gandhi who, on receipt of a representation from the author's wife, ordered an enquiry by the IB and the IB report had exonerated the author of all the charges following which Indira Gandhi ordered revocation of the detention order served to Kak. The Book also gives a graphic account of the intervention of Sheikh Abdullah who first failed to persuade the then Chief Minister, Haryana, Bansi Lal to set free Kak but later succeeded in getting him transferred to Srinagar Jail from Hisar Jail.
