NC committed to stop political parties from preaching divisive, communal politics: Rana | ?RALLY AT SIDHRA | |
Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 25: There is no place in Jammu and Kashmir for divisive and communal politics and National Conference with the support of the people will foil the designs aimed at dividing the society on regional, religious and caste basis. Speaking at a massive rally at Sidhra, attended by thousands, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana today said that National Conference is the party of the people and it will continue to offer supreme sacrifices for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "The foundation of National Conference is based on truth, brotherhood and amity", Rana said, adding that Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah laid edifice for empowering common people by enacting Land to Tiller Act and Omar Abdullah has taken that movement forward by establishing Panchayat Raj for the welfare and upliftment of down trodden people of the state. He said government has devolved powers to these grass root institutions, thereby empowering them to decide and shape their own future and destiny. Addressing a five thousand strong gathering, Rana made a scathing attack on BJP and said that the party has lost its relevance in J&K. He said that it is a party which has always played with emotions of the people of the region by raising communal passions in a bid to divide society on the basis of religion. He asserted that National Conference will defeat these communal forces and strengthen the secular fabric of Jammu & Kashmir. Making a frontal attack on the leadership of PDP, Rana said the party has no ideological base and is frustrated and is raising hollow slogans which are baseless. He said that PDP is in a habit of making accusations and then not standing by them. On the PDP's cries of corruption, Rana said National Conference has established State Accountability Commission and if the PDP has certain specific allegations they should approach the SAC with proof instead of raising slogans. He said Omar Abdullah is on record to have said that the corrupt will not be spared. PDP must come out with evidence and the coalition government will be the first to act. He said PDP has left deep scars on the minds of the people of Jammu & Kashmir by the 2008 row and rather than being repentful, they are still indulging in divisive politics to divide people on religion, region, community, caste and creed and such moves of the PDP will be resisted tooth and nail by the National Conference and the party will expose their nefarious designs. Rana said that National Conference and Congress coalition government stands united by an ideological bond and is striving for the holistic development of the entire state. He said it is an inseparable bond between the two parties and their respective leaderships with the sole objective of serving the people and ensuring the development of the state. He said coalition government is striving to realize the vision of Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah for a better and vibrant Jammu & Kashmir. Rana highlighted the various welfare schemes unleashed by Omar led government for the welfare of the youth of the state. He said the government's concern was employment and employability and the government was addressing both through creating avenues of employment as also focusing on skill development to ensure that the youth of the state are employable. Political Advisor said the Omar Abdullah government is concerned that the existing BPL lists are faulty and so the government has started the most scientific, modern and accurate Socio-Economic Survey to identify the BPL and once the survey is completed in the next two-three months an authentic BPL list will be drafted so that the benefits reach the deserving. Rana who was taken in a two kilometre long procession dotted with National Conference flags to the venue of the function, said Nagrota constituency though being very close to Jammu is backward and has lagged behind in development and it is his endeavour to work for the development of the area. Function was attended by Haji Mohammad Hussain, ex-MLC, Haji Wali Mohammad, Rameshwar Dutt, Block President National Conference and twenty five out of the thirty three Sarpanches of Dansal Block.
