EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 26: On the conclusion of its 1-day state working committee of BJP Mahila Morcha held at Jammu, a resolution demanding political reservation to women was unanimously adopted.
About 50 delegates of the morcha from different districts of the state attended this meeting and gave their valuable suggestions to reach the women in more effective way as also to strengthen the morcha.
BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas who addressed the inaugural session said that the time has come for the women to become more active and assertive in their approach in the public matters to change the social mindset which is heavily weighed against them.
levels is committed to support any bill which is aimed at granting political reservation to women.
Mahila Morcha state prabhari & MLA from Himachal Pradesh Urmil Thakur said that despite advancement of the Indian society in every field due to modern education and information technology, the women are still not treated at par by the male dominated society.
Because of the misconceived and misplaced male superiority, birth of a female baby is being perceived as a event of misfortune and has given rise to the evil practice of female foeticide in the society and has acquired universality in the country and remains unchecked despite high claims of the government, which is very unfortunate.
Morcha state president Sakina Bano, in his address, said that the domestic crime against women is also on rise. The women are routine subjected to mental torture, physical violence and killed by burning and other means, only because they are perceived to be weaker and not equal to men.
