Participatory mechanism to help check loopholes; enforce accountability: Chib

JAMMU, DECEMBER 26- Minister for Medical Education, Sports and Youth Services, Mr R S Chib on Monday called for greater public monitoring of various developmental schemes and welfare programmes, saying this will help plug loopholes, if any, and transparency at the grass roots level.
Interacting with various deputations, the Minister said the efforts of the government alone would not be enough to achieve desired goals unless the people extend their whole hearted support in effective implementation of schemes designed to ameliorate their lot. He said participatory mechanism holds key to greater accountability of the executing agencies besides ensuring judicious use of the funds for schemes undertaken across the State.
Mr Chib reiterated the coalition government’s resolve to ensure the development in urban and rural areas, as also to meet the urges and aspirations of all section of the society besides regions and sub-regions of the State.
Several deputation from Suchetgarh and R. S Pura areas called on the Minister and apprised him of the demands. The issues projected related to road connectivity, medicare, power and drinking water. They also drew his attention to the supply position of various essentials etc.
A deputation from Barwal Panchayat led by Former Minister Babu Singh demanded early construction of playground in the village for which the land is available. This will benefit over 15,000 youngsters of the area and give fillip to sports and youth activities. He also apprised the Minister of the various other problems and sought his personal intervention in solving these.
A deputation from R.S.Pura, led by Mr. Ganesh Dutt met the Minister and sought demanded proper sanitation in the area besides construction of municipal committee office which is presently functioning in a rental accommodation.
Likewise, a deputation from Sattowali (Suchetgarh), led by Sarpanch Kewal Krishan Singh demanded streamlining of functioning of cooperative society, construction of building for Government Girls High School Satrayan, construction of distributor channel at village Rakh Falora and Tohana.
Another deputation from Pindi Sarochan, led by Bhagat Ram Chand demanded lift irrigation scheme for the area and construction of road from Pindi Sarochan to Chack Mullo.
The Minister assured the deputations that every effort would be made to address to their grievances and solving various other problems.
