Thousands pay obeisance at Sohanjana
Shastriji’s birthday celebrated with religious fervour

JAMMU, DECEMBER 26, 2011Thousands of people and devotees from Jammu & Kashmir and outside the State visited the Holy Samadhi Sthal of Sidheshwar Shri Dewarika Nath Shastri Ji Maharaj at Sohanjana to pay their obeisance at the Shrine during last two days.
Mega religious and cultural programmes were organized as part of the ongoing celebrations on 52nd birth anniversary of the spiritual leader, which falls on December 25.
On this occasion, a grand “Rath Yatra” was taken out starting from the Holy Samadhi Sthal and passing through more than 40 villages adjoining Sohanjana, which was led by Shri Ganga Dhar Ji Maharaj, son and disciple of Shastri Ji Maharaj. Earlier, the ritual of Shree Paduka Pujan and a grandHavana were performed followed by Maha Arti at the Holy Samadhi Sathal of Shastriji Maharaj.
The Rath Yatra passed through surrounding villages of Nikki Tawi (Tawi Islands), which comprised of exhibition of Divya Jhanki of Maharaj Shree amid chanting of religious Sankirtan, fabulous Horse Dance, Gatka (Warriors’ action-play) and Sankirtan by the respective village Sankirtan Manadlies from Punjab and Jammu, which finally culminated at the Holy Samadhi Sathal itself late in the afternoon.
In the evening, religious discourses were delivered by the saints from Northern Indian states specially invited on the occasion, which was followed by a composite music program comprising of Sufiana ghazals and bhajans (Grand Satsangh) throughout the night by eminent singers from within and outside the State.
In the nightlong programme of classical music and Bhajan Sangeet, noted Sufi singers and other artists from Punjab performed live and enchanted the devotees, which included Parveen Alam Manna (Kawwal) from Amritsar, Vidhi Jaswal and Anmol Jaswal (Little Champ fame), Narotam Ji and a host of others.
On December 26, Satsang as usual was performed, followed by discourses/ sermons highlighting the impact of Holy Shrimad Bhagwat Purana as delivered by Shastriji Maharaj.
A community langar remained functional during the two days’ program, which was enjoyed by the devotees.
The management of Shri Dewarika Nath Shastri Ji Service Trust (Regd.) had made elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the two-day event, which was made successful with the whole hearted cooperation from the visiting devotees.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shastriji along with Sati Maa Champaji entered into Holy Agni Samadhi after finishing their holy task on April 26, 1992 at Tawi Islands adjoining village Sohanjana in short span of 32 years of his life. Later, one of their disciples, Shri Rashpal Kumar also took Samadhi at the same place on the same day.
