| 10 days N.S.S. Camp Organised at G.D.C. Paloura | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, DECEMBER 26 - A 10-day NSS Winter camp of GDC Paloura was inaugurated by the Principal of the college Prof. (Dr) Hemla Aggarwal on 26th of Dec.2011 in the college campus. In her address she encouraged the NSS volunteers of the college for participating in such kind of activities which are necessary for their overall development. She stressed upon the need for organising extracurricular activities so that a sense of responsibility and qualities of a good citizen can be inculcated in the students. NSS Progamme Officer Prof. Nisha Bhagat, the organiser of the camp, also spoke on the occasion and gave the details of the schedule for all the 10 days of the camp which include lectures by eminent resource persons on various themes like Art of Living, Conservation of our Cultural values, Nutrition, Values of medicinal plants etc. The students will also be taught various skills through workshops on poster making, Role Playing, Music etc. During the camp various in house competitions on slogan writing, group song, rangoli making, poster making and quiz will also be organised.
In the afternoon session Rangoli making workshop was held for the volunteers wherein Prof. Aruna Dubey from the Deptt. of Home Science, GCW Parade and PG students of Home Science Deptt. taught the students about the skills and technicalities required for making Rangoli. They informed the students about the rules that one has to follow while making rangoli. The detailed lessons about the colour making, colour combinations and variations that one need to do in rangoli, were also deliberated by them.
