| DT hails DB decision on cremation at Purmandal | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU , December 26 :: President Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust ( DT) Thakur Divakar Sinh has hailed the long –awaited decision of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice FM Ibrahim Kalifulla and Justice Virender Singh dismissing Public Interest Litigation challenging order of the District Magistrate Samba, passed under section 144 Cr.PC by which the District Magistrate had ordered that the cremations will not be performed in the vicinity or premises of the main ancient Shiva Temple at Purmandal. Instead, all cremations should be performed at the cremation-shed, developed by the Surinsar Development Authority.
The President has further expressed his satisfaction that the cremations of the dead bodies now will take place only at the cremation-shed, constructed for the purpose by J&K Housing Board down the holy Devika stream, near Bus Stand, Purmandal Onwards, no cremation-activity will take place in prohibited place, namely Shiv Temple at Purmandal in the river bed Devika stream.
Meanwhile, President has requested IGP and DIG, Jammu for strict compliance of High Court Order.
