| Massive bunglings in RDA works come to surface | | Director Tourism initiates formal probe | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, December, 26 : Though belated the Director Tourism Jammu has formally initiated a probe into various works executed by Rajouri Development Authority (RDA) during the past few years. The concerned minister had sought a probe into ` irregularities' long back.However, on fresh directions, the Director made an on the spot assessment of the situation.
Giving details, sources said, some three months back, Minister for Tourism and Culture , Rigzin Jora had ordered detailed investigation of the works executed by Rajouri Development Authority near Shadra Sharief shrine of border district Rajouri . In fact , Minister had sought porobe after he found sub standard
material used in various buildings constructed by Rajouri Development Authority . But the matter was not taken seriously by the concerned authorities. Few days ago, the minister issued fresh
directive in this regard .
Acting on the fresh directive , Director Tourims Jammu , Robin Singh Mehta on Saturday visited the spot and initiated the formal probe . Though director confirmed that he had visited some of the works in Shadra Sharief but didn’t divulge the details of his inspections .
Sources saiod , large number of works have been executed by authorities in violation of norms and most of the material used in the buildings has been found sub standard but in records same has been shown as appropriate. Not only this, even most of the works have been executed by the authority officials with
out tenders and other required formalities . In shadaraSharief, the authorities have made constructions involving crores of rupees near sharine for tourist facilities . In these buildings, sources said , the material used on the spot was sub standard while shown in records was quite different .
