This New Year - 2012 | | Aditi Datta | 12/26/2011 11:15:27 PM |
| It's been centuries that we have been celebrating new years. Parties, cards, celebrations accompany the same old monotonous traditions of making resolutions which are very proficiently forgotten after the first week of the New Year. It is said thatthe tradition of the New Year's Resolutions goes all the way back to 153 B.C. Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar. With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and also exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year. But New Year is not merely about following this age old tradition; it's about taking all the good into you and then spreading it out to the environs. Don't thing of this New Year as 'just another year', but a new chapter of a novel. With time, many new stories will come your way. Ask god to give you a new strength to stand in front of the New Year and face it with all your might. I would like to give my readers a few New Year's resolutions to follow that would make a difference in their lives: Think Efficiently. This 2012, try to concentrate your mind on more important things than just money and the like. Think of those who are really in need, the poor and the needy. They are the one who really need your help and support. Nothing else could be more delightful for them to have someone who cares for them. Put yourself in the situation of the deprived and see what it would be like if a helping hand came your way. Act Efficiently In your life, your actions decide your future; and an efficient action leads to an efficient future. Always think what to have to do at the present moment. Follow the verses of sant Kabir and never leave your work on the other day. Take every task as a challenge and complete it gracefully. Remember, nothing is impossible. Realize Efficiently Walt Disney was rejected for a newspaper cartoonist job because people thought he was not deserving. Einstein was shunned out of his school because his teachers did not think of him as 'normal'. Edison was disregarded because of 10,000 failures in his process of making a light bulb. If they had kept on listening to the whole world and had given up, perhaps today the Mickey Mouse, the Theory of Relativity and the Light Bulb would have been a surprise for us. These people realized that they have something within themselves that they need to show. Let people think whatever they want to of you; you need to realize that you have all the best things within yourself that the people don't know. Now you just have to show them those miracles in your brain. Realize that you are better than the best person in the world. If you would not believe in yourself, then who will? Enjoy We all know that all works and no play, makes Jack a dull boy. This phrase does not go only for Jack, but also for any other Tom, Dick and Harry. Just imagine that the moment you are living right now will not ever come again, no matter how hard you try. So, why waste it in otiose things. Take out time for yourself too from your busy schedule and just enjoy! After having read this and even after following this for the whole of the year, I guarantee that you would never regret in your life. Just try it. I am saying this because I have. Let this new thought bring a new joy to your life.
