MLC Yashpal Khajuria dies of heart attack | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 26: Senior Congress leader and MLC Yashpal Khajuria tonight died of a massive heart attack at army command hospital in Udhampur. He was 63. He is survived by his wife and two sons. His death was widely condoled by PCC leaders, politicians of other political parties, prominent personalities, academicians, people of Udhampur and other areas of the state. PCC chief, Prof Saifudin Soz described his death as a great loss to the party. He extended his heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family. Khajuria had gone to Udhampur to address a meeting of party workers. However, on his way back to Jammu at about 9 pm, he suffered a massive heart attack. He was immediately shifted to district hospital, Udhampur. As his condition showed no signs of improvement, he was referred to the army command hospital, Udhampur, where he later breathed his last. He had won 1987 assembly elections from Chenani assembly segment, defeating Thakar Dass. He also remained a minister in the state cabinet for three years from 1987 to 1990. After 21 years of struggle in the party, he was at last made MLC this year. He was known for his dedication, honesty and integration in the party. His mortal remains were likely to be consigned to flames Tuesday at Udhampur. |
