PK reiterates its demand for homeland | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 27: Panun Kashmir (PK) today once again reiterated its demand for separate homeland in Kashmir valley for the displaced Pandit community, saying it is the only viable solution to their plight. Addressing a public meeting at Muthi to commemorate the 20th year of Marghdarshan resolution, PK convener Agnishekhar said that community has endured lot of hardships and only a separate space in Kashmir is the permanent solution to their plight. He said that organisation will hold programmes all over the globe to commemorate the Marghdarshan divas. “In this connection 1st International Kashmiri Pandit Youth Conference is going to be held at Pune on January 7-8 next year. The conference will be a step to harvest the energy of community youth for attaining the goals”, he said. He said that the highlights of the conference will be honoring the youth icons of the community with Kashmir Kirti Samman for their excellence in different fields. Vijay Bhat, organisation president on the occasion said that independence of India from the British yolk did not provide any succor to the community and they have to face discrimination at every level. National Coordinator PK, Sanjay Dattatreya said that the state is eager to provide reservations and safeguards to the minorities but the Pandits being minority in Kashmir valley have been deprived of their rights. PK leaders also condemned the callous attitude of state in allowing the encroachment of temples and other religious properties of the community. Organisation has demanded that passage of temple bill in the Legislative Assembly so that a stringent law is passed to save the heritage of the community.
