Cabinet Sub Committee meeting postponed | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 27: The Cabinet Sub Committee meeting on examining and studying the report submitted by Justice Saghir Ahmad who led the Prime Minister's most vital Working Group on State -Centre relations was put off today due to sudden demise of senior COngress leader and MLC Yashpal Khajuria. The Cabinet Sub Committee chaired by Finance Minister and senior NC leader AR Rather has three ministers each from NC and Congress on board who have been discussing threadbare the voluminous report based on the recommendations made by Justice Sahgir Ahmad. The high level panel of senior ministers has been set up by the Government to study the report and look into the possibilities of its acceptability and implementation in context of settling political dimensions of state Centre relations. It is pertinent to mention here that Justice Sahgir Ahmad has touched upon Autonomy mainly in his recommendations. Notwithstanding NC's main political slogan and possibility of NC accepting this in letetr and spirit, there has been no consensus as yet as Congress apparently differs onc ertain points. It is because of this reaosn the meeting has not been able to compile its report within the stipulated time it was given by the state government. The committee, sources said would ask for extension of the term it has been given for filing its views in the report. |
