‘Elections for State Dental Council due’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 28 (KNS): President of State Dental Council, Dr H U Malik today said that Council has completed its five year tenure and elections for new Council are due. “J&K State Dental Council was formed by nominating members vide govt order no 670-HME of 2001 dated 24-09-2001 in utter violation of Dentists’ Act 1948. However, this illegal Council continues to work and completed its five years term,” Malik told KNS. He said that government order dated 11-10-2006 was issued for its termination. “Another attempt was made by some interested persons again for the formation of the second term of the council without conducting any elections and working illegally. This formation of the council was quashed by the high court but again for the last five years some illegal persons are holding the office of the council with the consent of the government no elections are being conducted,” he added. Dr Malik demanded the immediate dissolvent of the council and returning officer may be appointed for the conduction of the elections and formation of the council. “A Council formed without elections is illegal and in violation of the law, till then DHS Kashmir may be un-trusted the routine work of the council,” the president added. He also demanded for an audit may be ordered for the income and expenses of the Council as so far no such things has been ever undertaken. Dr Malik said that it is to be clarified as why Jammu and Kashmir state is not being represented in full strength in Dental council of India as per its norms expect one member. “Why there are no administration promotions for the dental surgeons working in the health department,” he asked.
