KPs on Margdarshsan Day reaffirm pledge to intensify struggle for Homeland
12/28/2011 11:54:08 PM
ET Report
Jammu, Dec 28: Despite facing a stiff opposition from almost all political parties , the Kashmiri Pandits on the 18th Margdarshan Day today took a solemn pledge to continue the struggle for creation of a separate homeland in Kashmir Valley.
The Margdarshan resolution was passed in 1992 on Homeland Day by activists of Panun Kashmir who pledged to launch a forceful struggle till the goal is achieved. Since then the Panun Kashmir pursued this cause and its leaders did not compromise on this formula terming it only viable solution to Kashmir imbroglio and problems of seven lakh Pandits scattered all over globe after being handed out from their homes and hearths in Kashmir.
Downplaying the division in Panun Kashmir which is presently divided into three groups led by three separate leaders, the PK activists are of the view that this factionalism at no point can deter them from achieving the goal. ``We are committed to carving out of a separate Homeland as per the Margdarshan resolution of 1992 and division in the organization can no way effect the struggle which is united in spirit'', said Ramesh Kumar a strong protagonist of Home land movement for Pandits in Valley.
The division in organization is not as important as the aspirations of common Kashmiri pundits are and they all are with Homeland movement , he said, despite government announcing sops and packages the Pandits have rejected return process in totality as they have lost the faith and trust in majority community of Kashmir.
Ramesh who has been with homeland movement for last 20 years said that he is not wedded to a particular leader but to cause---cause of community -nation hood and motherland. ``I am not bothered that who is leading the organization but my concern is whether entire community accepts that homeland is only alternative to end its plight or not''.
The majority people in the community are with homeland demand, he said adding they have discarded all other options and are for intensifying the movement to achieve the goal. ``The community is a force and leadership is left with no option but to toe its line. Once community feels that all the three factions of PK should come under one umbrella and other PK organizations who are opposed to the homeland philosophy have to change their style of functioning'', Ramesh added.
``Every Kashmiri Pandit is with Homeland and margdarshan resolution of 1992 and today they also reaffirmed their faith in the resolution pleading to intensify the movement all over country for carving out a separate place for over seven lakh exiled Pandits in Valley.
``We dismiss the demands of self rule, Azadi and autonomy and also we are totally opposed the withdrawal of AFSPA and other laws enacted in Kashmir for protection of innocent people'', said Jyoti Kumar another PK activist.`` Since situation has not changed and conflict still persist the withdrawal of AFSPA is useless'' he added.
The people of majority community in valley have rejected the co-existence and the past experience shows that Pandits can't live along with majority community and they do not want to face another exodus after their return to Kashmir, he said. ``Though all three factions held separate functions in commemoration of Margdarshan resolution but they all resolved to continue a forceful battle for carving out of a separate homeland within Valley, said Jyoti.
