| Problems confronting private health institutions to be resolved soon: Health Minister | | Annual Day function of Madr-e-Meharban | | Jammu, Jan 13 Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that bottlenecks confronting to private health institutions for providing up to date trainings to para-medical staff would be looked into favourably so that students of these institutions are able to get latest training and serve the society in a better way. Minister was addressing at the 4th Annual Day function of Madr-e-Meharban (MeM) institute of Health Science held here today. Former Chief Minister Mr. G M Shah, leader of opposition in the Legislative Assembly Mr. Abdul Rahim Rathar, Legislators Mr. Gharu Ram, Mr. Mian Altaf, Dr. Mustafa Kamal and Mr. T.S. Wazir were also present on the occasion. Commemorating the services of the great lady of the soil Late Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah in whose name the institute of Health Science was established, Mr. Sharma has said that she had made sustained efforts during her life time to serve the people and bring them out of centuries old backwardness. He hoped that students of this institution will uphold the values and services of great lady towards humanity. He said that private health institutions are contributing a lot for improving the healthcare facilities of the people adding that the trained professionals of these institutions have vast potential and job avenues both in and outside the country. He said that Union government would be approached for establishment of paramedical and nursing councils on the pattern of other states so that para-medical and science graduates could get graduate and post graduate degrees in the state rather to move outside for the same. He appreciated the dynamic leadership of Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad who brought revolutionary change in health sector and with whose efforts health infrastructure has reached to all districts and far-flung areas. He said that Mr. Azad succeeded in getting 200 crore from centre for establishing two mega super specialty hospitals at Jammu and Srinagar for which additional 40 crore will be contributed by the State. He said maximum funds have been earmarked for construction of hospitals and other medical units in districts and far-flung areas. He further said that large number of doctors who were earlier left the state has now returned and started serving their own people in the state. He said that doctors and other paramedical staff have played a commendable job in providing healthcare to people in general. Abdul Rahim Rathar and Mian Altaf Ahmad in their speeches referred contribution of Sheikh Mohammad in establishing Sher-i-Kashmir institute Soura and other hospitals in the State. He also underscored the part played by Begum Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in ameliorating the socio-economic condition of the people particularly her personal care for poor sections of the society was unanimously appreciated by all. Dr. Mustafa Kamal who is the President of the institution in his address said that a non-profitable institution set up in the name of great lady Late Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah for producing paramedics of top quality will not only meet the growing needs of trained manpower within the state but also outside the state and abroad. But he said this institution is facing great hardships for want of proper campus and financial resources and appealed the Government to device a policy to enable private health institutions to come up to the expectations of the society. Earlier Director MEM, Dr. R.K. Raina presented annual report of the institution. A cultural variety programme presented by the students depicting composite culture of the state was highly appreciated by the audience. Senior leaders of National Conference and other political parties, large number of students and parents participated in the function. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Swarn Singh of the institute.
