KAS Mains preparations | Students in J&K laborious, need help in concept building’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 30: No doubt, the aspirants for the Civil Services examinations in Jammu and Kashmir are labourious, but lack proper guidance when it comes to contemporary issues and often waste time and energy in revising those topics time and again. “They are good in traditional aspects of the discipline but when it comes to contemporary issues they are not well prepared. In traditional topics, such as political thought and administrative theory these students try to mug up facts and to remind them they need to revise the topic time and again which consumes a lot of time and energy,” said Vikas Singh of Medha IAS Delhi while speaking to students preparing for KAS Mains examinations at SR College of Competitions, here today. Vikas Singh, who teaches Political Science and Public Administration, said, “If a proper guidance is given to the target students and are helped in concept building, they can perform well and easily save their precious time and energy.”. Quoting examples of current topics of importance, Singh further elaborating said, “Information, which we find in news papers, became relevant on the basis of their importance in discipline syllabus. For example, Lok Pal debate is important for a student of Public Administration, because grievance redress is a topic in their syllabus”. In coming mains examinations, for a political science student, Western Political thought, Rawl’s Theory of Justice, Marxism Theory of Democracy are important topics in Political Science theory. Similarly, Federalism, Impact of Economic Reforms on Politics, Judicial Activism, Role of Caste in Politics shall be important for Indian politics, he informed students.
