EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 30: No doubt, the aspirants for the Civil Services
examinations in Jammu and Kashmir are labourious, but lack proper
guidance when it comes to contemporary issues and often waste time and
energy in revising those topics time and again.
“They are good in traditional aspects of the discipline but when it
comes to contemporary issues they are not well prepared. In
traditional topics, such as political thought and administrative
theory these students try to mug up facts and to remind them they need
to revise the topic time and again which consumes a lot of time and
energy,” said Vikas Singh of Medha IAS Delhi while speaking to
students preparing for KAS Mains examinations at SR College of
Competitions, here today.
Vikas Singh, who teaches Political Science and Public Administration,
said, “If a proper guidance is given to the target students and are
helped in concept building, they can perform well and easily save
their precious time and energy.”.
Quoting examples of current topics of importance, Singh further
elaborating said, “Information, which we find in news papers, became
relevant on the basis of their importance in discipline syllabus. For
example, Lok Pal debate is important for a student of Public
Administration, because grievance redress is a topic in their
syllabus”.
In coming mains examinations, for a political science student, Western
Political thought, Rawl’s Theory of Justice, Marxism Theory of
Democracy are important topics in Political Science theory. Similarly,
Federalism, Impact of Economic Reforms on Politics, Judicial Activism,
Role of Caste in Politics shall be important for Indian politics, he
informed students.
