Cheats get 5 yr imprisonment

December-30 Special Mobile Magistrate Electricity Jammu Balbir Lal Jaiswal today awarded five years imprisonment and fine 6000/- each to Basant Srivastav r/o Guna MP and Murari Karar r/o Guna MP u/s 420/468 & 471 RPC.
According to the case that accused Rusi Pradi and Mahesh Pradhi who were facing trial in much publicized Chopra Family Murder case u/s 302/396 RPC registered with P/S Bahu Fort. The accused Basant Srivastav and Murari Karar caused appearance as surety on behalf of Pradhi Brothers. On submission of bail bond in pursuant of the High Court order dated July 4, 2007, CJM Jammu referred the said surety bond to the CJM Guna, MP for ascertaining the solvency of these sureties. The bonds were referred to the Tehsildar Guna by CJM Guna on October 15, 2007. CJM Guna vide reference apprised that solvenacy certificates submitted by the aforesaid accused were not issued by Tehsildar Guna and same were fake.

On receipt of the information, CJM Jammu directed police to register FIR against the accused. The police registered FIR No 57/2008 u/s 420/468/471 RPC and started investigation of the case. After completion of the investigation presented challan in the Court whereas Court January 20, 2010 issued General Warrant of Arrest against Mrs. Papilla Bhai wd/o of Premda Pradhi of Guna Madhya Pradesh.

Court after considering the case and statement of the accused persons and also hearing arguments of Senior PO Anil Dev Singh Jamwal appearing for the state whereas Adv vir Ranshor appeared for the accused persons and taking into consdertaion all pons and cons of case and accused are convicted u/s 420 and sentenced to imprisonment of two years and fine Rs 2000 and also convicted u/s 468 RPC and awarded imprisonment of two years and fine Rs 2000 & u/s 471 RPC Court awarded imprisonment of one years and fine Rs 2000. Court further clarified that the sentence awarded shall run concurrently.
