Sham tours far-off places of Akhnoor, takes stock of people’s problems | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT AKHNOOR, JANUARY 01 – Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma, today undertook an extensive tour of various far-off villages of Akhnoor and took stock of the problems of the people. While addressing a largely attended public meeting at village Jhajjar-Panjgrain, the Minister said that it is endeavor of Coalition Government to ensure all basic facilities like drinking water, healthcare, electricity, education and road connectivity in every nook and corner of all three regions of the Sate. He said during the past three years the main focus of the Government remained on strengthening the existing infrastructure. The Minister said that numerous steps taken by the Government to improve facilities in different sectors has started yielding results on ground and people have acknowledged the change. The major achievements of the Government during the past couple of years included, successful completion of Panchayat elections with empowering the Panchayat functionaries and promulgation of Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) which is aimed at to provide service to the people in a time bound manner. He said that Government has been moving towards the direction of prosperity and year 2011 remained peaceful and satisfactory as a record number of tourists visited the State. Likewise, the record number of pilgrims visited to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and Shri Amarnath ji, which are the indicators of prosperity for the Jammu and Kashmir. On the occasion, the Minister announced Rs. 1 lakh from CDF for the construction of platform for community use at village Jhajjar near Baba Mai Mal Sthan. Regarding construction of road between Panjgrain and Dhok Khalsa and construction of a tube well, he assured that the demands will be examined on priority for appropriate disposal at the earliest. He asked the people to cooperate with the administration for ensuring all round development of the area. He also exhorted upon the Sarpanchs, Panchs of the area to fix the priority of works and submit the list of the same to the concerned departments for their early execution, he added. Later, he addressed a large congregation of Sikh community at village Tanda, which was organized in connection with the celebrations of Guru Govind Singh’s birth anniversary. He urged the community to follow the teachings of Guruji in true spirit and serve the mankind selflessly. He highlighted the contribution of Sikh community for the nation in different fields. He assured them that Memorandum of demands submitted by the District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Jammu, which pertains to the welfare of Sikh community, will be examined by the Government and all their genuine issues will be addressed in a phased manner. He asked them to maintain peace, communal harmony and mutual brotherhood to strengthen the rich ethos of Indian culture.
