180 drivers screened through medical checkup | | | Kishtwar Jan 2:- In continuation of observing of traffic awareness week, team of three doctors and two paramedical staff from District Hospital conducted the fitness of 180 drivers at Bus stand Kishtwar. According to Kuldeep Kumar, ARTO Kishtwar on 2nd day of week long program on “Road Safety week” 180 drivers of mini buses, Tata Sumo, Tata Mobiles, Buses and other private vehicles were medically screened during day long drive with the help of highly qualified team of doctors from District Hospital Kishtwar. Kuldeep Kumar said that out of 180 drivers, only one driver has been found medically unfit. He said that said as a part of Road Safety week, transport department has organized Medical Check Up camp for drivers at Bus Stand Kishtwar, checking of fitness of commercial vehicles, training program/refresher course for drivers, painting competition/debate on Road Safety and general checking/enforcement drive. It is worthwhile to mention that ADDC Kishtwar Nazir Ahmed Shah inaugurated “Road Safety Week” from Degree College Kishtwar on Sunday by flagging off the traffic awareness rally in which large number of students from different schools participated. Shah in his address stress for implementation of traffic norms at grass root level. He said that prevention is the better cure and advised the people to follow the traffic rules in letter and spirit so that increasing rate of accidents could be check. He also favored the regulation of traffic system in Kishtwar by involving unutilized routes so that burden of traffic on main roads of Kishtwar District could be minimized.
