| LC committee reviews breach of privilege proceedings | | | JAMMU, Jan 2: A meeting of Privilege Committee (PC) of Legislative Council was held under the chairmanship of MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta, here today.
Threadbare discussion was held on various breach of privilege motions against officials.
Legislator, Vijay Bakaya, Javeed Ahmad Rana, Syeed Rafiq Ahmad Shah and Mohammad Amin Bhat, besides Principal Secretary Home B. R. Sharma, Inspector General of Police Jammu Dilbagh Singh, Secretary Council Mohammad Ashraf Mir and the officers of Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
In breach of privilege motion against Mukesh Kaker SDPO/DSP Narwal Jammu moved by MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta, the official apologies /regrets for absolute and in appropriate language used by him with the legislator on phone. The Committee decided that the official may submit his apology in writing so that the Committee recommend for dropping the proceedings.
Discussing breach of privilege motion against Additional District Development Commission, Poonch Syeed Anwar Hussain Shah, moved by MLC Murtaza Ahmad Khan, the Committee expressed satisfaction with the detailed explanation submitted by the officer and decided that the proceedings could be dropped.
The committee also discussed the explanation submitted by Showkat Ahmad Mir, District Development Commissioner, Kupwara with regard to a breach of privilege proceedings against him.
The Committee was dissatisfied with the reply and decided to issue a fresh notice to the officer.
In another privilege moved by MLC Murtaza Ahmad Khan, the Committee decided that it will call Registrar of Kashmir University to explain his position so that the proceedings could be dropped.
