Sham lays foundation of Rs. 20 lakh Pyt Ghar at Raja Chack | | | AKHNOOR, JANUARY 02- Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today laid foundation stone of Panchayat Ghar and inaugurated new building of Middle School at village Raja Chack, near here. The Panchayat Ghar will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 lakh and school building has been completed at a cost of Rs. 7.40 lakh under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). Addressing a sizeable gathering of people on the occasion, the Minister said that Government was doing every thing possible for the welfare of the people of every nook and corner of the State, especially the rural areas. He said during the past three years numerous steps have been taken to improve the basic services, including healthcare, education, electricity, water supply and other essential sectors and people are themselves acknowledging the change on ground. Asking the people to take maximum benefits of MGNREGA, which has been specially designed for the rural areas, the Minister said this scheme has vast scope for all round development of rural areas. He said lot of funds is available in this scheme and people should involve themselves fully and utilize the resources for the community benefits. He directed the officers to educate the people about the MNREGA so that more and more people come and avail the benefits of this flagship programme. Reminding the Sarpanchs and Panchs their responsibilities and duties, the Minister said that Government has empowered them to take decisions at their level in the interest of common masses and they must perform with honesty and dedication to fulfill the aspirations of the people for which they have been elected for. He asked them to do justice with people equally irrespective of caste, creed and color. He renewed his earlier announcement that Rs. 10,000 will be kept at the disposal of each Sarpanch for purchase of emergency drugs and other life saving support for the people of their respective areas. He asked them to make judicious use of these funds specifically for the purpose these are earmarked, he asserted. He also directed the SDM, Akhnoor to make frequent field visits to ensure quality control of various on going projects in the area. He also asked for organizing common awareness programmes in the rural areas to educate masses about various State and Central schemes, enabling them to avail benefits of these schemes. He also directed the sectoral officers of different departments to speed up the pace of work and complete the on-going projects within the stipulated time frame. He laid stress on ensuring quality of work.
