kishtwar, Jan 2: In continuation of series of her interview with "Early Times", Khalida Shah, elder daughter of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah blames the bad company of his younger brother Dr. Farooq Abdullah responsible for debacle of National Conference which confined the party to only 28 seats in last two elections. She said National Conference during life time of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah won most of the elections in Jammu and Kashmir with absolute Majority. She said that after Dr. Farooq Abdullah took over the reigns of National Conference in his own hands, the party starts losing its charm among the common people. She said that instead of following the foot prints of his father, Dr. Farooq Abdullah became the tool in the hands of those persons, whom late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah never allowed to prevail during his life time. Khalida Shah however did not mention the name of those peoples whom she referred as "Bad Company". She said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah instead of believing in public power look towards New Delhi for support. She claims that Dr. Farooq Abdullah will never win election without the proper support from New Delhi. She said that after losing power in 1984 due to vertical division in National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah begged before New Delhi for power as a result of which he (Dr. Farooq Abdullah) became the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir after 1987 election. "Everyone knows, not only in India ----- but in entire world that what happens in 1987 elections in Jammu and Kashmir." Khalida Shah said. She said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah inconvenience with New Delhi widely rigged the 1987 elections. She said that it was in the aftermath of 1987 elections, the youths of Jammu and Kashmir took up guns which marked the beginning of new era in Jammu and Kashmir with widespread by death and destruction which is still continued in which thousands of innocent people particularly youths lost his life. She said that it was due to bad polices of New Delhi who supported Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his men in 1987 elections through his wrong policies; what she called it as "Day light murder of democracy". She said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir suffer due to one wrong decision on part of New Delhi, which is center government's support to Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his men during 1987 elections. She said that for the lust of power, Dr. Farooq Abdullah forgot all those promises which were made by her father at the time of formation of National Conference. She said that after central government by way of article 356 dismissed the government of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and imposed the governor rule in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Farooq Abdullah finally left with no option but to once again return to the main agenda of National Conference set by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah as a result of which National Conference won the 1996 election with 2/3rd majority. She said that after raising the slogan of "Autonomy" during 1996 election campaign, Dr. Farooq Abdullah led National Conference though mange to win the maximum seats in Jammu and Kashmir but lost his way in the mid way. She said that it was Dr. Farooq Abdullah's lust for power, he preferred to carry on with the post of Chief Minister even after Atal Bihari Vajpaee led NDA government threw Autonomy resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in a dustbin. She said that if at that time Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah would have resigned, the situation would have been all together different. She said that for the sake of power Dr. Farooq Abdullah once again prefer to form a coalition with Congress party, who had betrayed not only her late father from time to time, but have also betrayed Dr. Farooq Abdullah on many occasions. She said that there is only one motive for her brother Dr. Farooq Abdullah I.e. "Power" for which he (Dr. Farooq Abdullah) is ready to go up to any extent and for this he had no criteria, either BJP or Congress or someone else in future. (To be continued)
